About the event
Tutor: Emma Cowan In this hands-on workshop from Wild Studio, you will discover the diverse possibilities for making your own inks from plants. We will guide you through the process of creating your own botanical inks suitable for writing, drawing and painting. (full description below)

What is possible? We will look at traditional tannin based ink making ingredients, such as husks, bark, cones and leaves, and adapt them to our context here in Aotearoa. We will also explore creating bright and colourful inks from flowers, weeds, and seeds. We will discuss the many botanical possibilities and how to extract colours from more delicate plants. Together we'll make a selection of inks in class, with many more available to try out.
You will learn how to expand the colour palette into a wide range of hues, and how to extend the life of your artworks. We will talk about the possibilities and limitations…
