Coreopsis grandiflora
Dried coreopsis flowers and petals from the wild studio gardens.
 
These coreopsis flowers are a unique and essential part of the wild studio colour palette. A bright and stable yellow ink can be made from these petals with a simple boiling water extraction, and smoothed with Gum Arabic. Warm tones of red and orange are also possible, as the yellow ink may be modified by altering the pH, or with the addition of metal mordant such as alum or iron.
 
The ink is eventually fugitive, however offers relative stability for more than 12 months out of direct daylight.
 
The quantity of plant material supplied is enough to craft approx 45ml ink.
